Here's the route, Danny. Except where it turns there west of the tennis courts, she goes straight and comes in behind her school (which is right next to the high school). She rides up with her friend Mac and Mac's mom. They're not allowed to go by themselves until 3rd grade.

How far to school? Do you accompany her (or just stalk her from afar, so you can take a picture of her bike in the bike rack)? Any busy streets to cross? We have one between home and school.

Michele showed up in Clear Lake for the parade on the 4th; the folks in front of me were lucky I restrained myself from spitting.

Yeah, that's the same thing with Emmett. It's just weird. It's obviously and at least partly an attention-getting thing, but the other part...pure devilishness?

He writes an article whose title encompasses one of the bigger stumbling blocks in grammatical usage, and then uses the incorrect form of "theirs" in his writing. ;) My eyes! My beautiful eyes! ;)

Keston, thankfully, never really had much of a "throw the plate/utensils" stage. He is, however, lately doing a lot of throwing, period, and since it has been all in-house, it's highly annoying. The worst was the other night when I asked for his plate and he trotted in with it, two-handed, all correct, but as soon as he got a couple of feet away from me, he suddenly flipped and chucked it at me, full-bore. After the shock of being covered in broccoli bits and ketchup, we had.....a discussion.

It was the oddest thing -- not even malicious, just....random. Like his little brain suddenly had this lightbulb moment where it said, "HEY! I wonder what would happen if we THROW the plate to Daddy!" And he did.

Some very learned women I know once theorized that there was cartilage in there. Learned in the wrong stuff, I surmised.

I knew when I saw that Cadie had gotten Chris' curls that there was going to be trouble. And, really, I need to stop all this cuteness obsessing anyway, now that Ava's cognizant of it. Little boys and girls aren't supposed to care what they look like, right? Where're Alan Alda and Marlo Thomas when I need them? Out saving orphans, I suppose....

Chris and I actually worried for a time before Cadie was born that she wouldn't be as adorable as Ava, who we thought was the cutest little girl ever.

And then Cadie was born and it was obvious we had a winner. But second place is still very good, Mark.
